Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a silver gray pentagon shaped embroidered item edged with a 1/8-inch blue border, a light blue disc grid-lined and bordered in yellow encircled by a blue band featuring eight white stars and bordered along the outer edge in yellow, bearing in center a profile silhouette of an eagle standing with wings elevated and inverted in yellow facing to the left; in base overall a pair of yellow swords crossed diagonally.  Overall dimensions are 3-1/2 inches in width by 3-21/64 inches in height.


Symbolism

The pentagon shape alludes to the Department of Defense (DOD).  The stars within a blue border denote excellence and achievement, while the globe signifies the worldwide operations of the Military Postal Service Agency (MPSA).  The eagle silhouette is from the MPSA seal, referring to the close association with the U.S. Postal Service.  The swords symbolize the military nature of the organization.  Overall, the emblem represents the mission to provide efficient and responsive processing, transportation, and distribution of personal and official mail within the DOD.

Blazon

A silver metal and epoxied shield shaped device 1-1/4 inch in height blazoned as follows: Azure, between two swords saltirewise with points to chief Argent (Silver) a sphere Celeste grid-lined and fimbriated of the second bearing a profile silhouette of an eagle statant wings addorsed and elevated Argent (Silver); all within a bordure bendy compony of the first, second, and Gules.


Symbolism

The shield is a representation of the Military Postal Service Agency (MPSA) and its mission: to achieve efficient and responsive processing, transportation, and distribution of personal and official mail within the Department of Defense.  The crossed swords symbolize the military nature of the organization.  The border suggests movement and cohesive managing, while the colors red, white, and blue resemble the pattern on an international mail envelope.  The eagle silhouette is adapted from the MPSA seal alluding to the U.S. Postal Service.
